For the first time celebrity wardrobe and costume designer will host a course series to teach you the knowledge and skills needed to become more confident with your sewing and creating.   This course will also cover useful techniques to help tap into your creative side and turn your new skill into a profitable talent.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR MACHINE

COURSE OVERVIEW: 

This is a beginner course series that will focus on helping students get to know and learn how to properly operate their sewing machine.   This course will focus on the fundamental skills needed to take your sewing to the next level. 

COURSE OUTLINE:

  • Understanding your machine and its functions.

  • Learning the proper notions needed for your  sewing projects.

  • Threading and setting up your machine for sewing.

  • Proper stitch and tension settings for various fabrics and textiles. 

  • Sewing with various fabrics and textiles.

  • Useful simple alterations and mending techniques.

  • Culminating creative course project design.

SHARPENING YOUR SEWING SKILLS

COURSE OUTLINE:

This course level is designed for those who already have the essential sewing skills and are comfortable operating their machine with a degree of ease.

  • Understanding basic pattern drafting to create your own garments.

  • Tier II Alterations, Hems and Mending Skills

  • Learning to drape  

  • Sewing with various fabrics and textiles.

  • Basic shirt (top) pattern making and construction.

  • Creative design enhancement 

  • Understanding and using the proper tools for construction.

  • Understanding measurements and cut to fit techniques.
